Which NEC Edition Does Your State Test On?

The single most expensive study mistake: drilling the wrong Code edition. Your exam is based on whichever NEC your state has adopted — and states move on different schedules. Find yours below, then study that book.

⚠️ Read this first: this table reflects the NFPA's official enforcement map dated August 3, 2026, with two updates — Texas moved to the 2026 NEC on September 1, 2026 (per the TDLR bulletin), and Wisconsin's 2023 adoption took effect the same day. Adoption changes constantly: verify against your state board or candidate bulletin before buying a Code book. "w/ amendments" means the state modifies the NEC — your exam follows the amended version.
